Seems too good to be true, which is why I am still bracing myself for THE IMITATION GAME to start revving its engines toward the Academy. Harvey is not going to just let some tiny art house films beat his Oscar-bait prestige movie. The Weinstein machine has been pretty quiet for the past two years, so expect him to put everything into getting all the geriatrics to see and vote for THE IMITATION GAME. After all, he went to the trouble of removing all depictions of gay affection just so it would be acceptable to the blue hairs.

It's really odd - refreshing, but odd - to think that the three biggest locks for AMPAS' Best Picture are Birdman, Boyhood and Grand Budapest. It's like an inversion of the norm. Other years, we'd be wondering which of the three would be fighting for that 'fifth slot' (back when there WERE only five slots). But this year, they'll be the main focus. At least, that's how it's looking so far.

No American Sniper, no Unbroken. If the Globes wouldn't bite, neither will Oscar.
