I agree with OG. American Hustle has excellent acting, which makes the characters seem more profound than what they are in paper. The screenplay is surprisingly ordinary for a crime film.

EDIT: Well, Ok, I wouldn’t say that the screenplay is weak, and I enjoyed the film to some extent, but it’s not the type of stuff I’d like to see anywhere near a screenwriting Oscar.

American Hustle peaked in late December, early January, during nomnations time.

It will go home empty handed

I haven't even seen Her and I'm happy Hustle lost. Weak screenplay.
