In case anyone hasn't heard why "Please Mr. Kennedy" is disqualified:

In the fall of 1960, there was a number one hit called "Mr. Custer" ("Please, Mr. Custer...I don't want to die"). I remember it; maybe some of the other old-timers do, as well. It wouldn't have immediately come to mind as inspiration for the Burnett-via-Coen song.

Apparently several parody versions of the song, keyed to the new Kennedy administration, were released over the next year. I DON'T remember any of them. At least one or two were actually called "Please Mr. Kennedy".

None of them were the exact song so memorably sung in Inside Llewyn Davis, but they were deemed by the music branch to have enough of the same DNA that the new song was scratched from eligibility.

Also, they might be considered due after losing to the crap Eminem song 10 years ago. And it's a song for a Mandela movie.
The Eminem song was very culturally relevant and important to the film it was a part of. I was better than the other nominees, though the Kander and Ebb "I Move On" was the most technically-perfect of the nominees.

Just based on what I've seen on YouTube, I would predict nominations for "Young And Beautiful," "Oblivion," and "Stay Alive" in addition to "Let It Go."

I am loving all the attention for the Gatsby soundtrack.

But, yeah, the incredibly awful "Let It Go" is going to win.

Even more than in most years with this category, I feel like I have barely any idea what will be nominated. I assume "Let it Go" is a gimme, but after that...not a clue.

I wouldn't at all be surprised to go 1/5 in terms of accurately predicting.
