NYFCC announcement

Post by Big Magilla »

From Indiewire

The New York Film Critics Circle, which calls itself "the oldest and most prestigious in the country," today announced the admission of four new members: Graham Fuller (Artinfo.com), Rafer Guzman (Newsday), Farran Smith Nehme (The New York Post) and Indiewire's own Eric Kohn. The NYFCC, which usually leads the pack in awards voting, and so inevitably sets the field, also announced that they'll be voting on December 3, kicking off a flurry of awards that will end when the National Society of Film Critics votes on January 4.

In a statement, NYFCC chair Joshua Rothkopf, who writes for Time Out New York, said: "It's gratifying to see our numbers grow with the addition of four worthy voices. Smart criticism remains crucial, and today's membership reflects that. We're now wrapping up one of the most exciting years in recent film history. I look forward to deliberating on the merits with my Circle colleagues."
