Oh, and that kills me. It's not about the campaign, it's about the performance. Did you like the movie? Go buy the fucking ticket and enjoy it. Did it make an impact? Yes? Then that movie did it's job. I hate that the popularity vote and the campaign voting gets too tied into the true talent and art of film. It's not about what your wearing on the red carpet. It's about the performance and I wish more people saw it that way

Unfortunately, Mojoe, you're in the minority on that. Some people buy into marketing pushes and such.

All right, it's fine. Considering you're a voting member of SAG, it's kind of a good thing you said that.

Here's the thing. I don't vote or state my opinion on "which performance/movie's chances of winning or being nominated are" I vote on how good something is. I hate sites like Gold Derby for example that play the statistic game. It's not about campaigning, or statistics. Its about if the movie is truly good or not or what performance you felt was the best. That is what I'm stating.

I haven't seen Blue Jasmine yet, so therefore I cannot pick her

Thanks, much appreciated.

I'm just picking who I would pick at this moment in time

Spring Breakers would be lucky to get a screenplay nomination. And even then, it's fighting against the largest slate of potential juggernauts I can remember in some years.

Two films nominated for Best Director but not for Best Picture seems unlikely when there are so many slots for Best Picture.

Also, I have a really hard time believing that Spring Breakers will get a nomination for Best Director. It's not the type of film the Academy likes.

e: Nevermind, I just couldn't read the opening post correctly... Can I strike through the above text somehow?

I can't take any list seriously that doesn't list Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine. She's a lock. Also, this thread should really have "Predictions" in the title.

haha I will own that title with pride. I was sooooo bummed last year when Beasts was not eligible for the SAG awards. I threw my vote to Naomi Watts just for the hell of it because the other nominees were...just... well. anyway

she is quite good so I do expect some campaign buzz for her
