Had no idea Adriana Asti is a legendary Italian actress. Wouldn't surprise me though. Such beauty and gravity in her performance.

Nice to see a beautiful Italian movie in your ballot, Sabin - and our legendary Adriana Asti, too.

Sonic Youth, you have made some good choices too - Corinna Harfouch WAS excellent - but seriously, I'm interested - so you REALLY like Dakota Fanning..? I thought you were joking.

After seeing the Walk the Line clips and talking to my mother who had just seen the movie, I was reminded how much Joaquin knocked me out. I don't know why I left him off the the list first time round, but he's there now. This knocks John Hawkes off the list, rendering my conversation with Sabin superfluous. Sorry John.

I forgot to do Best Director and I still need to do the clips. Later...

Yeah, Monaghan was good. In fact... [Edits category.]

Turtles Can Fly is about a pack of orphaned children, many with their limbs blown off, using their cunning and resilience to survive in pre-war Iraq by providing services like dismantling land mines. I don't think it would have gotten you laid. Although it didn't make my final five, there is a small but lovely supporting performance by Saddam Hossein Feysal, the kind that never gets noticed.

I guess Zhang is supporting, but it's a very prominent supporting role.

Yes, John Hawkes was excellent. But I couldn't take Miranda July's performance.

Pleased to see Jean-Pierre Bacri. I have Marilou Berry slightly ahead of Agnes Jaoui but it's great to see you recognize those two actors and the ensemble. Lovely film.

Just saw Me and You and Everybody We Know again and John Hawkes has an extremely difficult role and pulls it off very nicely. Good to see Jeffrey Wright and Anne Hathaway mentioned (then again, just glad to see Anne Hathaway. such nice mamm-er, memories, I mean).

Haven't seen Kiss Kiss but Downey Jr. and Mognahan (sp?) and the film itself did very well at the Village Voice poll.

I think Zhang Ziyi's supporting.

Incidentally, Turtles Can Fly? I saw the poster with my girlfriend at the time and she was so enamored with the title we almost went in to see it. What's this film about?

I've not seen The New World or Match Point, and I've missed several foreign and indie films.

I bought The Constant Gardener on DVD today. I plan to re-watch it as soon as I find the time to see if I've been missing something in Rachel Weisz's performance, but unless I change my mind on second viewing, Ralph Fiennes title character was for me the heart and soul of the movie, not Weisz. Still, she is one of seven strong contenders for supporting actress, along with Catherine Keener and the five I've listed.

Huh. I'm curious, Magilla: The Constant Gardener for Picture & Director but not Supporting Actress? Or Actress for that matter (I know I'm still waffling)? I have yet to see North Country, In Her Shoes, or The Family Stone, but she deserves her spot as much if not more than Maria Bello and Michelle Williams IMHO.
