Mmm... Sabin... You are a great guy but I mean - ever tried not to change ur opinions for a reasonably long period? I mean, for more than three, four minutes...

(how'd I miss this one?)

I see a movie, I sit down, I write my thoughts. I reflect for a few days and digest the film, and reevaluate. Italians don't do that? Too busy being immediately right?

And both can be answered with, "Well I TRIED to enjoy it with you that time Eric. I just couldn't."

You're as wrong about this as you are about being bisexual.

Yes there is - Atonement.
Exactly.

Eric, Atonement isn't this year's Capote, it's this year's Finding Neverland!

I think this is a great line-up. I can't vote for any of them. And kudos to the Academy for recognizing the beautiful Atonement.

I would rather sit through the first half of 'Atonement' than most movies this year. I would rather drink two gallons of milk, listen to "Beautiful Girl" for two hours on end, and set my knees up a residence next to my toilet than watch the second again.

Now I can't actually remember what I voted for, now. I think I ended up going Michael Clayton's more flatlining mediocrity over Juno's peaks/valleys ... and knowing that Juno would probably win this poll.

But it is Clayton, not Juno (and not Atonement), that is this year's Ray/Capote nomination. Not even so much bad as it is completely dull.

Good Sabin, I knew you'd come around baby :)

I can't believe how many people voted for Juno! It's nowhere near the best of the year - and Atonement isn't horrible either - but honestly, which of those two would you rather sit through again? Juno and Michael Clayton are at least more entertaining.

Sadly after two days of reflection, I think you're right, Steph. The first hour of 'Atonement' is masterful. The rest is languishing. 'Michael Clayton' may not say anything profound and 'Juno' is always amusing. Any chance to recant my vote and sheepishly cast it for 'Atonement'?

Though even it is better than so many other Oscar nominees and winners.

I'm fairly pleased with this category, though I haven't seen Michael Clayton yet.
