This, though a double-post, will serve as commentary for my predictions and why I guessed what I guessed.

4-17-07
The predictions are tough this easy, especially in the case of Best Actor. "There Will Be Blood" could very well succeed where "Syriana" failed: being nominated for Best Picture...
"Sweeney Todd"'s success could make or break Depp's chances at his first Oscar.... and "American Gangster" has the swift misfortune of following the "Departed"; the two films could have just enough similarities to make the audience turn the other way (it seems that the same type of film is never awarded two years-in-a-row.)

4-15-07
I cannot explain myself at this point. :-)

I did this over at Backstage, I guess I should do it here too.

I thought this would be fun to play. Of course, the winners won't be revealed until next year but it would still be interesting.

This is a contest to test if we have any real psychics in this board. I wanna see who can most accurately predict the Oscars almost a year in advance. Here are the rules:

01. All registered users are eligible to join.

02. Those who wish to join must post their whole year-in-advance Oscar predictions in the following categories in this thread:

BEST PICTURE
BEST DIRECTOR
BEST ACTOR
BEST ACTRESS
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS
BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY

Each category will have five (5) nominees. You must also indicate the winner.

03. Point system are as follows:

Three (3) points for every correct winner prediction
Two (2) points for every correct nominee prediction
One (1) point if the predicted nominee is nodded (nom or win) by the Globes, SAG, BFCA or any of the big four critics awards (NYFCC, LAFC, NBoR, NSFC)

04. The maximum number of points one can get is 88 points. Any person getting at least 79 points (90%) should get themselves tested for psychic powers and I promise this anyone getting 75 points and above, I will buy him or her a DVD of his/her choice.

05. Deadline for entries is May 15. You may edit your posts as much as you can until the deadline.

Let's see who has the Gift of Oscar prognosticating.
