Re: Bruce Dern Speaks for Us All

That's the problem with this whole lead/support issue. Films can have two leads. Agreed but it's not like Terms of Endearment ( for example) where the story wasn't told in first person, it was told as a whole. Nebraska on the other hand is in Will Forte's character's first person tell all, therefor...

Re: Bruce Dern Speaks for Us All

The issue with this is Bruce Dern is the Supporting Role out of him and Will Forte is the Lead. On screen it does seem 50/50 but there are a few moments that are drawn out where Will has more few extra minutes to himself ( he's alone for the first 15 minutes of the movie even) , plus the story is hi...

Re: 86th Academy Award Nominations (Predictions)

Unfortunately, Mojoe, you're in the minority on that. Some people buy into marketing pushes and such. Oh, and that kills me. It's not about the campaign, it's about the performance. Did you like the movie? Go buy the fucking ticket and enjoy it. Did it make an impact? Yes? Then that movie did it's ...

Re: 86th Academy Award Nominations (Predictions)

I don't want to sound like I disrespect your opinions, Mojoe, but I think we're more interested in what you feel about the Oscar chances than what your personal preferences are  Here's the thing. I don't vote or state my opinion on "which performance/movie's chances of winning or being n...

I haven't seen Blue Jasmine yet, so therefore I cannot pick her

Thanks, much appreciated.

I'm just picking who I would pick at this moment in time

Re: 86th Academy Award Nominations

I am naming you president of the Quvenzhané Wallis Fan Club. haha I will own that title with pride. I was sooooo bummed last year when Beasts was not eligible for the SAG awards. I threw my vote to Naomi Watts just for the hell of it because the other nominees were...just... well. anyway she is qui...

86th Academy Award Nominations (Predictions)

So luckily living in Los Angeles and a member of SAG I get to see a LOT of movies early in the form of screeners or events and I have seen 90% of the movies heading to awards season so really quick I'd like to share the people/films that I would give nominations Mind you these are choices of films I...

Re: Best Supporting Actress 1995

So last night I finally got around to watching Apollo 13, I saw it about 12 years ago but only remember it briefly, so now I can finally vote on this My vote goes to Kathleen Quinlan, which I am surprised with the amount of hate for her role here. Yes she is very subtle but she does something that n...

Re: Best Picture and Director 1988

Okay this was just released today and I can say I am shocked completely. Also I didn't know where to post this since there is not an 86th Oscars Discussion board http://www.goldderby.com/news/4656/meryl-streep-oprah-winfrey-oscars-entertainment-news-386149257.html So looks like Meryl will be campaig...
