Hmmm.... Well, obviously Dreyfuss loses his oscar, though to whom? I haven't seen A Special Day , so that's out. I think the potential for a great performance is there in Equus . Burton obviously was familiar with the role, and it is a great one. Lumet manages to ruin it though. If Damien hadn't in...

Oh, Reza accidentally edited out his choice, which was to use one of his passes and keep On the Waterfront winning best picture.

No passes left means no Godfather , but it's one of my favourite films of all time and deserved this awards hands down. Of the remaining films, Sounder is easily my favourite. I quite like Deliverance , haven't seen The Emigrants , and I don't think very much of Cabaret . So Sounder gets it. Reza, ...

I'm more curious about Frost/Nixon , and particularly, how they place Sheen's Frost. There is no way you can argue he's supporting (in fact, I'd entertain an argument that Nixon was a supporting figure, based on the play. Granted, the argument would be wrong, but I'd entertain it), but in many resp...

Put me in the "Adapted Screenplay is a bridge too far" category on Dark Knight. It's true the writers' branch isn't genre-snobby, but the films MoveWes cites were considered more special as writing specimens than Dark Knight is. I'd say Tell No One is more up this branch's alley, if you'r...

This is actually a pretty great category. No passes - No Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer . Not that I would've went for it anyway. I never really understood as Monsieur Verdoux became the Chaplin film you liked if you didn't like Chaplin. It's fine, but compared to his silent masterpieces, it just doe...

He was also the original Katurian in The Pillowman (the Billy Crudup role on Broadway). Not that I've seen it, but it's one of my favourite plays ever and anyone involved automatically gets some points of affection from me. And I love the new Doctor Who , even if I'm so far behind. I saw it and he ...

I love the movie, though not quite as much as dws. I'm more intrigued by the Alfred Hitchcock mention.
