Nothing wrong with that. I was concerned that the reason Cinemanolis gives for citing Brideshead Revvisited is that the made-for-TV mini-series "speaks in cinematic terms" is a description that could fit anything from Rich Man, Poor Man to Roots to The Thorn Birds to Eleanor and Franklin ...

Poor Leo. He should have won for Gilbert Grape when he wasn't so "pretty". Who knows if he'll even be around when he's old and wrinkled.

Also i would like to add a special citation To the director and creators of 'Brideshead Revisited' a mini series that managed to 'speak' in cinematic terms, and bring an otherwise cinematic achievement to the small screen. Hmmm, I don't personally have a problem with this, but others could use the ...

I called Josh Brolin. I'm not surprised, though, by any of the picks except for Eastwood but again that could be due to the Warenr Bros. bias. Doesn't Warners buy more tickets to their annual shindig than the other studios or something like that?

Or not. The choice is up to him, but I suspect he will once he reads the comments.

I'm guessing top ten now means top ten runners-up. The best picture/director split between Slumdog Millionaire and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button could mean the two films vied closely for the best picture award with Slumdog possibly given the edge because voters had India on their mind after t...

I never thought Mommie Dearest deserved the critical drubbing it got, culminating in a slew of Razzies, but 14 nods and counting? Joan must be spinning in her grave.

Noon or later EST, but since they were supposed to have met yesterday and all that had to be done today is make the announcement, it should have happened already.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Odetta, the deep-voiced folk singer whose ballads and songs became for many a soundtrack to the American civil rights movement, has died at age 77, her manager said on Wednesday. Douglas Yeager said Odetta passed away late Tuesday at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, after a d...

The movie juxtaposes the actual interviews in order to build maximum suspense. The Watergate confession actually came in the second or third of the four interviews. It's the last interview in the play/film. As a student of history you probably want to see both, the actual interviews to see what act...

I used to be good at predicting NBR choices but ever since they split their lists into mainstream and independent choices I haven't a clue guessing their best picture choices any more. As for acting, I'm thinking Sean Penn (Milk), Kate Winslet (The Reader if not both The Reader and Revolutionary Ro...
