When I saw a rare 35mm print of it in January 2005, Eddie Muller introduced the film and made the same claim about the UN building location shooting. I remember thinking it was a surprisingly good film as well. Has anyone seen any of the (very few) other films directed by Maxwell Shane? I've heard ...

I must confess I'm not a true baseball fan (that is, not one who watches games very often, or even understands much of the lingo thrown around, pitching being a particularly mysterious art to me) or much of a sports fan at all, but I do enjoy following standings and counting magic numbers, and of c...

If his initial burst of popularity was the summer of 1999, I could easily have missed that since that's when I went abroad myself. But I've been back in the USA for nearly ten years now, and du...

As someone who has seen The Circus several times including once just over a month ago at the Castro Theatre, the first thing I noticed is that's not a clip from The Circus . The CNN article says it's from a DVD extra, of footage from the 1928 premiere of the Circus . In regard to your second option...

As disgusting as the video is, I think might be even more disgusted by the fact that most of the commenters on that post are insisting that the video was staged by liberals looking for sympathy. Compassion for the "other side" simply cannot exist any more for some people, can it?

Andrei Rublev received multiple nominations in the game for the year 1969. Whether or not that was the correct year under our rules, I'm not sure. My understanding is that the film was completed in 66 but shelved by the Soviets for a few years, but right now imdb says it had a "limited release...

I really enjoyed this comment on that blog, written by someone named "gadfly": Thank you for your keen elite celebrity insights into economics and public policy, Mr. Sajak. Far too often we hear the uninformed opinions of limousine liberals who have no firsthand knowledge of the needs of ...

Tee, I am indeed following and rooting for my city's Giants, though mostly I'm not going through the agony of watching the games live. If only October weren't the busiest month of my year! In addition to my two jobs and keeping on top of film stuff, I'm one of the leaders of a crew putting together...
