Re: Your Best Picture ballot

I'm not too excited about any of these films, but on the other hand, I didn't really dislike anything either. Considering how much the Coronavirus has messed up things, I feared it could be worse. 1. Minari 2. Nomadland 3. The Father 4. Promising Young Woman 5. Judas and the Black Messiah 6. The Tri...

Re: The Legend of Zelda

I'm not that familiar with RPGs, but Earthbound is the SNES RPG that wasn't well know at the time, but is definitely worth trying.

Re: The Legend of Zelda

I never had an N64, but some time ago I decided to play through at least the N64 Zeldas (Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask) on an emulator to see what all the talk is about. It was an interesting experience, and the games were a lot more ambitious and innovative than I expected, but I have to admit ...

Re: CHASING COVID-19 VACCINE

I'm glad to hear that a lot of people here have already gotten their vaccinations, congratulations. Vaccinations seem to be the one thing that the U.S. is managing relatively well with the pandemic.

Re: The Legend of Zelda

I know I am in the minority here but I confess that I am a fan of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, which was one of the first games I had on the NES. Oh, hello. I'm a huge admirer of this game. I played it a lot as a kid, but I could never finish it back then. I got lost in the final area and could...

Now I'm just clicking "refresh" on BBC's election tracker page every ten minutes and waiting for Michigan to turn to blue.

Funnily, I like to do it the other way around, go to sleep early and wake up early to watch the end.

Re: Stay Safe Everyone!

Having a low number of Covid cases was nice while it lasted, but now the cases are skyrocketing in Europe again. I never had a very high opinion of the crisis management skills of European political leaders and health care authorities, but it's just unbelievable how slow they were at reacting to the...

Re: Stay Safe Everyone!

The number of infections have been rising in most European countries, and rapidly in some of them. So Europe kept restrictions going until the infections hit low levels and then lifted almost all restrictions, even on foreign travel, while there was still community transmission going on and without ...

Re: Stay Safe Everyone!

Then you have much of the Western World. We all underestimated it, didn't learn quickly enough from Italy/Spain, but looking at the way the disease spread has slowed down, I don't think you can say it's getting worse every week. It's not over yet. Some countries in Europe seem to getting their seco...

Sad news. I always thought it was only a matter of time before Khan would land the right part to get him a deserved "career" nomination.

R.I.P. Gene Deitch

American born animator Gene Deitch, who bizarrely did most of his work in Czechoslovakia, has died at the age of 94. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_Deitch Deitch directed five films that received Oscar nominations for Best Animated Short Film including one film that won the award ( Munro ) altho...

Re: Stay Safe Everyone!

And if others wanted to do a virtual meet-up at some point, I would be willing! Now we are 2 :D Since I'm guessing that a lot of people here aren't too busy with anything else at the moment, would it be interesting to set up a private Discord server, stream some films there and chat on the side?
