Re: Best Screenplay 1973

Can't believe that The Exorcist is in a tie for the win. I saw the movie just a few months ago and found the drama pedestrian, and the plot dull and incomprehensible at times. Indeed. One of the worst winners in this category. I can only think of A Beautiful Mind, Slumdog Millionaire and Precious a...

Re: Best Screenplay 1973

Quite easy in both categories. It's a pity that La Nuit Américaine got the writing, directing and supporting actress citations in 1974 when it had won Best Foreign Language Film the year before, when it should have been nominated and won hands down. Anyway, as Ingrid said, "I don't quite unders...

Re: Acting Bunch Winners (2010-2014)

In my opinion Blanchett's victory is one of the best ever. McConaughey and Leto are wonderful together, though separated are not that outstanding, and Lupita's affecting performance is not easy to watch. All these reasons are enough for me to vote for 2013. The other years are not exactly bad, but k...

Re: Mad Men's Final Season

I just loved every minute of this finale, and I hope Hamm and Hendricks will win the Emmy. They deserve it. Those person to person final encounters or conversations between all the characters were priceless, joyful, exhilarating and deeply sad to watch, and they were all I desired for this ending. I...

Re: Last Seen Movie - The Latest Movie You Have Seen; ratings

Monsieur Klein (1976), Joseph Losey. This film leaves me speechless. It's one of the most complex, intriguing as a concept movies I've ever seen. Since I didn't find any discussion about it on this board, I'd like you to write down your feelings about it in case you have seen it. If you haven't, I ...

Re: Best Screenplay 1974

This is indeed a very distinguished list, but the original category is definitely superior. I'll begin with adapted, which is a no-brainer to me. First to cite are the (subjectively) annoying vehicles for their main performers. As much as I love and admire Bob Fosse's Cabaret, I just simply don't ge...

Re: Acting Bunch Winners of the 00s

In 2000 the leads spoil the bunch. Washington, Berry and Connelly are among the worst choices ever. 2002 is good, but I'd like a more powerful female couple. Zeta-Jones is dynamic, but almost negligible. I hate 2003. I think it's the most over the top bunch of winners I can think of. Four showy, ext...

Re: Mad Men's Final Season

Such a cold, poignant penultimate episode. Just in order to get away from sadness, I'd like to say that those references to The Graduate and The Godfather were nice. Was this Milk and Honey Route the path towards Don Draper's death or Dick Whitman's? Is he going to finally found himself? If not, whi...
