Re: 2023 Tony Awards

Interesting that Jessica Hecht got the nomination over Laura Linney for Summer, 1976 . I haven’t read or seen it. Perhaps Hecht has the more interesting role. Linney has been nominated five times in the Lead Actress in a Play category and never won. I was hoping that David Krumholz, Faye Castelow, E...

Re: New Developments III

I’m in D.C. and have spoken with some folks in the know this week about this. Believe me, it’s happening (and soon). What's become interesting is the possibility the Mar-a-Lago documents case jumps ahead of NY in the queue. Plus, Georgia's out there waiting to happen. A lot could explode at once; c...

Re: New Developments III

Gonna be a fun week. Yeah..... I think it's not happening. Why? Because it didn’t happen when Trump said it would? That was always a lie for the sole purpose of getting his crazy MAGAt psychos frothed up. You’ll notice that they’re just not as excited this time around. There was a rally with fives ...

Re: The 24th Annual Who'll Be Back?

The Jackman casting is absurd. He’s entirely too old for the role and is starting to look it. Glenn Close is of course twenty years too old for her part as well but somehow I could see still her pulling it off. The Sunset Blvd movie musical is one of those things we will always just talk about but w...

Re: Final Thoughts

Deep in party prep, but a few things crossing my mind: In many ways, I hate to see this day arrive. I know it's what gives it all its meaning, but it's been so much fun to have such a high level of suspense that I hate to see it resolved...especially if it ends up happening in the most boring way i...

Re: Oscar Predictions Contest!

I attended my good friend’s Oscar party in NYC and through a very busy weekend, I failed to post my predictions, but going through everyone’s choices, I’m surprised just how people chose Austin Butler. I suppose he was a popular prediction but I had one of my “psychic moments” and knew that Brendan ...

Re: Categories One-by-One: Best Supporting Actress

Curtis confirmed the rumor on the SAG red carpet that she will be in Season 3 of The White Lotus presumably in the kind of high-profile role that Jennifer Coolidge had for the last two years, so we can expect to see her at all the TV awards shows next year and perhaps beyond. She doesn't need an Os...

Re: SAG Nominations

The only other intro that I felt worked was the one with Quinta Brunson and Janelle James. It felt natural, like the relationship the pair have on Abbott Elementary. They could be the new Tina Fey/Amy Poehler go to host combo. They would be great co-hosts together. Very likable and they’re funny bu...

Queen Latifah and Julianne Moore back in 2002 qualified too.
Boom. Thank you, Uri. I had a feeling there was another pair.

danfrank, while true, neither of those pairings were nominated in the same year which, I think, is what jack is asking for.

Re: Oscar Nominations

Maybe Viola was simply not a favorite of voters this year. She seemed like a filler nod all season to me anyway and I personally didn’t think she would make the finale lineup.
