I don't see how people dying in Iraq and Georgia has anything to do with it. Rosalind Russell was not ancient in 1961, at 54 she was merely middle aged but well outside the range of the usual female superstar. Truth be told, though, I really cited her because I knew no one was going to give an offi...

It's been 50 hours.

Barry Brooks, are you still in this game for this year? If so, you're up. Otherwise it's Oscar Guy's turn.

Um, not to be a party-pooper, and I offer this up for debate, but aren't we supposed to be reserving the Special Citation category for achievements that cannot be honored in the other categories? No disrespect to Flipp or Magilla, but I'm under the impression that both Warren Beatty and Hayley Mill...

I have the cast recording of Bounce - agree it was horrible. Even the great Jane Powell couldn't save it.

Ineligible - see below.

This game goes by year of first theatrical showing, usually in country of origin, not Academy Award eligibility.

Good to know. The Yellow Rolls-Royce is not a particularly good movie but it has a once in a lifetime cast that makes it fun to watch. Hopefully it will be released along with other fabulously costumed comedy-dramas. Travels with My Aunt, perhaps? Bombers B-52 was a B movie that has for some reason...

Hustler, I'm afraid you'll have to wait until we do 1960 to get your revenge - La Ciociara (Two Women) was a 1960 release in Italy as were La Dolce Vita, L'Avventura and Rocco and His Brothers.

Also ineligible: Purple Noon, which was 1960 in France.

Yes, but I'm unhappy with it - looks odd to me, can't teach an old dog new tricks I guess. I'm in the process of reinstating my tried and true winners based on N.Y. or L.A. release date, whichever came first.

LOL. You got me.

I really do have other things to do. I think I'll go do some of them now.

I love the story that Richard Haydn used to tell about having quit the Academy when Wilde was nominated. If there was an alternative to Milland it would have to be Peck who was in three of the year's biggest hits, The Keys of the Kingdom, The Valley of Decision and Spellbound. Decision belonged to ...

It's time to look at another new year: 1961, the year of the 34th Academy Awards. Good. Now we can all vote for our favorites without fear of someone else zapping them as in the other game stalled now for almost another 24 hours. Why is it that people lose interest in that game after their first tu...
