Re: Meryl Streep wins Princess of Asturias Award for Arts

There's a brief video of her appearance buried in this piece about her hitherto unrevealed six-year separation from her husband, mostly focused on her changing hairstyles over the years. When I first read this, I said to myself, "I would've thought Meryl Streep and her husband were sensible en...

Re: New Developments III

. . . and Jim Jordan fails to win the Speakership on the first ballot. More balloting is postponed until tomorrow. Like I said, the Republicans say they don't believe in government; and, by golly, they're keeping their word.

Re: Last Seen Movie - The Latest Movie You Have Seen; ratings

Fair Play (Chloe Domont, 2023) 8/10 This riveting film has a very strong whiff of all those psychosexual thrillers of the 1980s - "Fatal Attraction", Disclosure" - but instead it treads through a different path manoeuvring its way through corporate corridors. Oozing sex are a couple ...

Re: New Developments III

I wonder if this scenario is actually possible. The Republicans bring up a vote for Trump as Speaker. Most, if not all, of the Biden 18 vote against him. Enough of the Republican Caucus is sufficiently angered to strip the nay voters of their committee and subcommittee positions. This leads the stri...

Re: New Developments III

Just one other point, and maybe this is a stretch but I hope not. If you've been following the House Speaker drama going on right now, it's clear that the elected Democrats are very much united and the Republicans are in utter disarray. Too bad Will Rogers didn't live a century longer to see this.
