Re: Dark Blood, River Phoenix's final film

River Phoenix's final role is brought to light in this never-before-released 1993 effort from George Sluizer, which co-stars Judy Davis, Jonathan Pryce and Karen Black. BERLIN -- An actor who was larger than life is given the chance to breathe again, if only in fragments, in director George Sluizer...

Dark Blood, River Phoenix's final film

Is it possible that we could see some Oscar history this year? James Dean received 2 posthumous Oscar nominations, but they were both within 2 years of his death. Would the Academy even care about nominating an actor 20 years after his death? It's not as if they would ever have another opportunity t...

Fruitvale

I've recently been hearing a lot of great buzz about Fruitvale , which was picked up by the Weinstein Co. at Sundance and is being tipped by some as this year's Beasts of the Southern Wild . Find Out Why Fruitvale Was Sundance's Biggest Film And A Future Awards Contender Fruitvale began earning huge...

Re: In Memoriam

I don't understand Adam Yauch's inclusion. I know he was one of the big deaths of last year, but I would expect to see him during the Grammys 'In Memoriam' segment more than I would the Oscars. I only know him as one of the members of the Beastie Boys, not for whatever work he did in film.

Re: Ceremony Details

Just announced: 5 out of the 6 actors to have played James Bond will appear onstage together as part of the James Bond tribute. Ironically, the one to be holding out is Pierce Brosnan, not Sean Connery who has not only retired from making public appearances, but has voiced public disdain toward the ...

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015)

Not even sure how I feel about the news about the two recently announced spin-off films, especially since the Han Solo spin-off is going to revisit the prequel era. The Boba Fett film is set between Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back and is being written by Lawrence Kasdan, so that one might be g...

Star Wars: Episode VII (2015)

Actually I'm quite surprised that no one has started a thread about this project since it's been in the news so much over the past few months. I'm curious to know what everyone thinks now that George Lucas is out and Michael Arndt and J.J. Abrams are in. Any excitement at all or is everyone done wit...

Re: Categories One-by-One: Makeup and Hairstyling

Actually, the orcs have nothing to do with the nomination for The Hobbit because they weren't makeup effects at all. Most of the creatures this time around were CGI mo-cap effects, and therefore had more to do with the visual effects nomination than the makeup nomination. The makeup in this picture ...
