I guess it's been a few weeks since I last posted here. Shiva (2008) - 5/10 - A (very) large extended family gathers during the Gulf War after one of the brothers in the family dies. Re: Barbie reviews
I went to see Barbie yesterday and enjoyed, though not as much as expected. Perhaps that was due to too high expectations based on the hype train and previews. Some of the humor felt a bit flat, but most of it landed.

It's fairly low quality, but A Cold Wind in August is available on YouTubeMister Tee wrote: ↑Sun Jul 23, 2023 7:06 pm Does this mean A Cold Wind in August was somehow deemed not-American? (I've never been able to track that film down. Would love to see it.)

Requiem from Java / Opera Jawa (2006) - 5/10 - I think that the film is well made, but I'm not a fan of opera and didn't care for the story here. There were only bits and pieces that I really enjoyed. Diary (1983) - 7/10 - David Perlov was an Israeli filmmaker ad professor whose ideas for films wer...

Re: New site colors
I haven't been reading the site on my phone, but I do find the black background to be harder on the eyes. I looked for a way to change the settings to get back a silver background, or at least a light background of some sort, but we don't appear to have that as an option.

Re: Best Screenplay 1977
I didn't like Annie Hall very much and I'm sure that puts me very much in the minority. My favorite movie in the original screenplay section is easily Star Wars, but I wouldn't choose that for best screenplay. My choice there is The Goodbye Girl, a film that I liked quite a bit. The relationships we...
