Re: Producers Guild winner
I think that whoever wins DGA next Saturday will win best picture.
On the other hand, academy members only start voting on February 14th, almost a month from now, and a lot can change during this period

Re: Best Actor thoughts
When was the last time Best Actor was truly in doubt? Sean Penn vs. Mickey Rourke? Matthew McConaughey may not be a Daniel Day-Lewis in Lincoln lock or a Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood lock, but at this point his odds are better than Jean Dujardin's. He has absolutely everything he needs t...

Re: Complete List of Nominations
From my count, there are only 25 films that received any nomination outside of the special categories (foreign, documentary, and short films). This must be the smallest number for quite a while. Since 1960: Only considering picture and the four acting categories this year we have 11 films (of which...

Re: Final Oscar predictions
If nominated I think U2 can be considered as locks, even is the song is "minor U2". It's a Mandela movie, Bono is really campaining, it's constantly on the radio and they might be considered as "overdue" after losing ten years ago.

Re: Surprise Inclusions
In the last two years, we have seen 3 Best Actress contenders with the trifecta of precursor nods (GG, SAG, BAFTA) not get an Oscar nod (Helen Mirren, Marion Cotillard, Tilda Swinton). Note that all 3 were previous winners who were in films not overly beloved (2 of those films got no Oscar nods), s...

Re: Surprise Inclusions
I can see Adele Exarchopoulos in the best actress category.
Also, Jennifer Garner for Dallas Buyers Club or Margot Robbie in Wolf of Wall Street could surprise in the best supporting actress category if they really love the movies.

Re: BAFTA nominations
quick thoughts:
- Biggest snub might be Michael Douglas in lead actor for Behind the Candelabra
- Leonardo di Caprio might have a shot for an oscar nomination
- It's looking very shacky for Meryl Streep
- Was Dallas Buyers Club eligeble?
- Very interesting set of foreign language film
