I don't even really have much issue with his themes or his middlebrow-ness or his mise-en-scene (or alleged lack thereof), but the only movie I've ever seen by him that seems to have any reasonable sense of pacing is Sense & Sensibility , which I'd chalk up to Emma Thompson's smart script. hmmm...
