The producers pick bankable stars AND those stars with projects coming out in the next year. I would think Jodie Foster had earned the place to present Best Picture, but I can see why they chose her for Best Director. Maybe they'll have Diane Keaton present Best Picture. I couldn't stomach it if Ha...

Peter Sarsgard's been a bubbling under actor for years. I thought he was terrific in Kinsey and should have been nommed. As for actors I can see getting Oscar attention in the future (especially with performances in Hard Candy and Little Children under his belt) is Patrick Wilson. He has the lead-m...

Don't know if it's occurred to anyone else, but imagine (not so hard) when Jennifer Hudson wins. She will likely make sure her speech runs over 45 seconds so when the orchestra starts, she can sing "I am telling you, I'm not going..." Probably a good chance to create one of those Oscar mo...

I'm glad I'm not the only person who likes Blake.

Most of them were terrible, though I thought Chris Sligh was at least entertaining. They can fire the rest starting with the irritating Sanjaya. And really, Sundance...how could they pick you when you are that bad?

Today marks the first posting of my now-annual Oscar Predictions articles. They analyze the race as I see it and put forth a general guide to my final predictions.

Feel free to have a read and I know you'll debate it endlessly, so I won't offer to allow you. :)

Tee, you make good points, but you've ignored the Editing correlation. I really think you're discussion of the Hollywood Depression Era winners is succinct. We did have some bizarre occurrences during that period, but the '60s changed all that, just as did the box office doldrums. Perhaps we're pre...

There are two ways it could go down:

1. Voldemort finally kills Harry, killing himself.

2. Harry kills Voldemort, thus killing himself.

That's not saying they're good and that there aren't exceptions...

But in this case, it's the worst of all worlds in the film.

The film literally reminded me of a cross between 70s porn, blaxploitation and 80s horror These three genres adding up to a bad movie does not compute. However, since we're talking about a superhero movie here (i.e. worst genre of all time), I doubt these really apply. Let's see...three relatively ...

And I disagree that Cohen was even a solid contender. I never saw him as the fifth-slot prediction. First: Comedic performance (If Jim Carrey can't even get nominated for stellar performances in dramas for which he received plenty of attention in those years, Cohen wasn't going to get it) Second: C...

Don't count on it. It looks like a poor man's Sopranos (i.e. stuck on network television where it can't be as vulgar). They've been hiping the hell out of it and I see it going down in flames as audiences refuse to tune in to see it.
