I’m afraid I've been cranky for quite a few years now – but it’s not that I’m not big, it’s the pictures that got small.

We all know he's not winning the oscar.

Re: Categories One-by-One: Original Score

As much as I love Arcade Fire, my favourite of the bunch is Gravity. Yes, it's LOUD, but it's perfectly fit into the film. I find it very hard that it doesn't win here.

Re: Categories One-By-One: Supporting Actress

At least Lawrence actually acted in her film. Nyong'o's performance is awful and on the line of campy. "I stinks so bad ah makes mahself gag" is girl power 2013 at its worst. Squibb and Hawkins are the only ones who deserve winning, let alone a nomination. THIS Ditto Lupita. A win for her...

Re: Categories One-By-One: Supporting Actress

As I’ve written in other posts, I think Lupita gives the weakest performance of the four that I’ve seen (still haven’t seen Nebraska). But she will eventually win. Weaker than Julia Roberts? Well, there goes your credibility. I'm not going to get into a debate (again) with the posters who somehow c...

One of the weakest line ups in my book.

Voted for Slumdog and Boyle.

Re: TCM Oscar documentary

There was an old video put out by the Academy on VHS when Karl Malden was President of the Academy that had the Chaplin presentation as well as many more moments from the 70s and 80s, maybe early 90s. This thing was OK as a teaser, but it's really there to sell TCM's 31 Days of Oscar. I own this VH...

Patricia Norris is nominated for 12 Years a Slave. She has been previoulsy nominated 5 times but never won. At the age of 83 they might consider her as overdue.

Re: RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman

One of my biggest regrets ever was not being able to see him on stage in Death Of a Salesman when I was in New York two years ago.

Probably my favourite character actor working today. His performance in The Master is, in book, one for the ages.

He trully will be missed.
