I'd like to add Gladiator into the mix. I remember despising Chocolat, but I'm pretty sure I'd rewatch it before sitting through a paint-by-numbers Hollywood action flick again.

The Golden Globes have often been a dress rehearsal for the Oscars. Did any of tonight's winners help or hurt their chances? Probably not, though Whitaker comes awfully close. I'm not so sure. The View Ladies were gushing over how unrehearsed and genuinely grateful he seemed, and Academy members in...

And the winner of this year's Golden Globe prediction contest is: Damien , who defeated Anon by scoring two points in the Foreign Film category. Here are the top 10 entrants (according to the tie-break rule and, again, not counting the Animated Feature category): 1. Damien (24 points, 2 points in F...

Alright...the polls are closed. I will post the results either tonight or tomorrow morning. Also, I forgot to include Best Animated Feature in my original post when I was describing the rules. Therefore, I am not counting that category, because some of the earlier posts did not include predictions ...

Dear LMS haters-- this is actually good news, because the DGA noms rarely match up with the actual Oscar slate. Sure, LMS is destined for a Best Pic nod, but Dayton/Faris are likely to bested by Eastwood or Almodovar or Cuaron or whoever. Looks like Condon is in. I wasn't over the moon about Dreamg...

Is is just me, or is Lisa Tucker vastly overrated? She's a competent singer at best, and she has a very "vanilla" sound.

I'm sure she'll make the final 12, but I think she'll be out earlier than most predict.

King Kong: *** A decent opening act, a spectacular middle section, and an affecting, if drawn out conclusion. The special effects on the island are quite triumphant; the effects in NY, less so. Watts is fine, but I would consider her a non-entity in the Best Actress race. Black seemed to draw laugh...

As for Brokeback Mountain 's subject matter being of interest to you, you might want to check out Johnny Guitar and Red River . Red River may well be the most homo-erotic non-porno film ever. Monty and John Ireland, sigh . . . The air of sensuality is so palpable that I even have a thing for Joanne...
