Re: Golden Globe Nominations
Don't get your hopes up for May December. Remember how well Carol did with critics and the Globes and then witness how it got left out of Best Picture. Also, you guys are way too catty about The Color Purple, a film none of you have seen. You seem to be hoping for its failure just to prove yourselve...

Re: 2023 Michigan Film Critics Guild Awards
The group is small, less than a dozen members? It's the same reason the Hawaii Film Critics Society is idiosyncratic. Their first year, there were four members and they've maybe doubled in size since. Smaller pool of voters, the lest representational they are.

Re: Henry Kissinger Dies
The only positive thing I can think to say is that he enabled Paul Sorvino to deliver one of his best performances.

Re: Oppenheimer 4K UHD Completely Sold Out
People don't suddenly stop wanting something because there aren't enough units to buy. Now, if they publish the actual number of units sold, then I would accept that it really was a massive seller, but until then, I stand by my assertion that it sounds like a studio stunt.

Re: Oppenheimer 4K UHD Completely Sold Out
This sounds like a studio doing a very small print run to create a "sold out" situation and increase interest.

and it would be "backed by the Koch Brother" since one of them is dead...we can only hope the other kicks the bucket soon and their children aren't giant penises like Trump's kids are.

Re: Awards Calendar (2023-2024)
Some of these dates are at odds with what is posted at Rotten Tomatoes, so I'm wondering if there's misinformation out there.

Re: Jimmy Kimmel, Our Once and Future Host
Strange, I've heard almost no one bemoan his hosting duties. Everyone on my feed who's spoken about it has spoken glowingly of the decision.

I've seen a couple of very enthusiastic initial reactions. One of those was from an Academy member.

It got 11 nominations. 1 for record of the year, 1 for song of the year, but none for album of the year.

Re: New Developments III
While it was nice to have the occasional vote of Joe Manchin, I think it's probably better to rip the band-aid off now rather than in November next year. Maybe we can get another Democrat who won't completely whiff the state. That said, This puts enormous pressure on Jon Tester, Sherrod Brown, Tammy...

Re: New Developments III
It's occasionally a factor. Most polling houses are trying to compensate for the loss of landline support and to account for Trump voters who will outwardly lie to pollsters about who they support and why. The secret sauce hasn't been set, but a lot of them are starting to mixing online polls as wel...

Re: New Developments III
The results in Ohio are also great. If we continue to frame the election in terms of abortion access (which is what Dems in Virginia did as well), I think we can pull it out. Sure, Biden has all the legislative successes, but voters seem less interested in legislative successes these days than they ...

Re: New Developments III
Historically, 3rd party candidates always do well in polling up until the election. At that point, most of the people who planned on voting for them realized they weren't going to win and swapped to one of the main party candidates. It's why so few 3rd party candidates have ever come close to pickin...
