Well, that changes a lot, for some reason IMDB hasn't listed DGA nominees yet.

In all feature film categories, I had 67/99 correct, which has been about average for me in recent years. Into the Wild wrecked havoc in my predictions for major categories, so in major six I only got 23/30. There was only one category that I predicted 5/5 - cinematography, a category which I have ...

Not having followed the race so closely this year, I have to ask: was it really such a huge surprise that Into the Wild did so poorly? It only got Golden Globe nominations in music categories, no DGA, no major critics' prizes (unless I missed some)... all it got was WGA and SAG nominations. Edited ...

You're partly right, Johnny, as Apatow is a rather limited screenwriter, and the script is, um, unbalanced. But I still like the way he doesn't over-emphasize how different, well, let's say, how different backgrounds Rogen and Heigl have. It may be unintentional, though.

In my opinion, one of the best things in Knocked Up is the fact the film mostly keeps it implied that Rogen and Heigl are at "different leagues". The scene where they meet some of Heigl's old friend at a shopping mall works very well precisely because so much is implied. On the other hand...

It's uncomfortable to compare two performances that are so different as the ones that Ledger gives in Dogtown and Brokeback . In a purely analytical sense, his performance in Dogtown may be better - but it is essentially a supporting role, and furthermore, the performance in Brokeback is the stuff ...

My first thought was that this can't be true. Of all the actors in Hollywood, I would never have expected this to happen to him... So sad, he had *real* talent - and importantly, he was prepared to choose unconventional parts.

I'm guessing There Will Be Blood will win. I still don't see No Country for Old Men as the kind of film that the Academy will love to award. Btw, is there any chance that Andrzej Wajda will join the list of Honorary Oscar winners to win a competetive award later on by winning the best foreign langu...

It's tragic that Ulrich Mühe died so soon after playing what is definitely the perfomance of his career... I don't like defining films as "masterpieces", but The Lives of Others is certainly a film that works. It has a solid (deceptively simple) story and a polished screenplay - too often...

Well, here's my Top Ten lists for 2006. I don't really like evaluating the quality of acting performances the same way I routinely evaluate the quality of films that I see, but this time, I also tried to list what I felt were the best male and female acting performances of the year in major roles. ...

Funny, I got Mike Gravel too. I don't think I've ever even heard of him before.
