I think the dinner table sequence is one of those sequences that needs to be studied by every wannabe director - how Mungui unpacks so much information with those side conversations while never leaving Anamaria Marinca's face is astonishing.

Burns is out, Dourif is in. I don't even think I've seen Burns' film, but to my understanding it was one of those "good on you, old codger" wins that happened every so often (Don Ameche, 1985). Having no sentimental attachment to Burns, I don't mind taking it away. I haven't seen The Day ...

Can I be the only one to say here - actually to repeat it, since I first said it last summer right after I saw it in Beirut - that The Dark Knight WILL NEVER, EVER get a Best Picture nomination? And then ok, maybe it will be nominated in the end, but at least let's try our best to pretend that this...
