At 12:30 AM EST, TCM is showing William Dieterle's Love Letters , a nominee for Actress (Jennifer Jones), Art Direction, Song, and Score. I know Damien is a pretty big fan of this. Ayn Rand, of all people, wrote the screenplay. This isn't available on DVD, and doesn't show up on TV very often, so t...

I have these left, some of which I'll see relatively soon, and some of which I'm not interested in ever seeing: Blood Diamond Half Nelson The Last King of Scotland The Pursuit of Happyness Venus Notes on A Scandal Pan's...

Letters From Iwo Jima.

The Departed and The Queen are both pretty good, and I won't be disappointed if one of those two wins. The other two both stink.

It sure is lonely being alone in this boat.

But I'll manage; I've been there before and probably will be again.

I love the O Brother, Where Art Thou? award, if for no other reason than that it got people like Gillian Welch and Ralph Stanley into the winners circle. And it got Emmylou Harris an Album Of The Year award. And it beat that comatose U2 Album.

As a country music fan, I was disappointed. Carrie Underwood isn't a modern day Patsy Cline or Emmylou Harris--she's the heiress-apparent to those godawful shrieking divas of the 90's like Martina McBride and Faith Hill. If they wanted to award a breakthrough country singer, it should've been Miran...

Oscar the statue, meet Oscar the Grouch. Lawyers for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences last week ordered the editor of the seven-year-old Oscarwatch.com web site to give up the name or face a lawsuit. At issue: The Academy owns the "Oscar" trademark and warned founding edito...
