It's now been confirmed in soap spoilers that Michelle Stafford will be playing both Phyllis and "Sheila" in the new year. Paul, Michael and Lauren will all be involved in the storyline which will result in them having to "try and live with themselves after they've commited a horribl...

Just before Reagan died, we were living in the longest period of American history where so many past presidents still lived. With Reagan and Ford gone, the last remnants of the Cold War start to fall to pieces. That period of history will officially end with the passing of Carter who seems to have ...

It makes me wish they could get her to sing it on stage at the Oscars...oh what a marvelous standing ovation she'd receive...

You know, she has the possibility of getting such an ovation when she wins the Oscar.

The Miramax of its day, perhaps even more successful, has gone away. I was always curious what happened to them. The following Orion films won Best Picture...an impressive list: Amadeus (1984) Platoon (1986) Dances With Wolves (1990) The Silence of the Lambs (1991) Then they suddenly dropped off th...

There were two and only two numbers in our audience that were applauded. And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going and I Am Changing. Now, I didn't start any of that applause...I did for the credits at the end but i could tell people wanted to. :) Anyway...when she sang And I Am Telling You, I literally f...

Oh does it? Who in the acting world doesn't think that Katharine Hepburn is a legend? Who wouldn't vote for her if she had never won a SAG award? It's not groupthink but Group Concensus. Generally when people feel a slight has been made, in general, it tends to be a shared thought. So perhaps McKel...

Hold on. let us not re-write the history of SAG. McKellen won for LOTR because he was not honored for Gods and Monsters. Walken won because he's hugely popular and had no SAG award. Depp won for similar reasons to Walken.

They aren't doing anything to Clint. Most of us believe Letters from Iwo Jima is his top 8 film this year, not Flags. Flags was a dismal failure at the box office but since Letters won't have a chance at the BO before voters make nominations, they'll have to go based on critical praise.

The difference between SAG's choice of Johnny Depp and your suspected pick of Meryl Streep is that Depp had been considered "long overdue" for more than a decade. He had been ignored by virtually every critics organization, SAG and the Academy despite many years of fine work. Streep has p...

If you take a look at my Oscar Hopefuls page, you'll find that any category in which the "official" contender have been released by the Academy is so noted and all such films are listed (VFX, Foreign, Song, Docu cats). And I think Dreamgirls has a fantastic shot at a nomination. Unlike Ch...

I find it utterly ironic that the day Dreamgirls (which has Jimmie T. Early, a loose incarnation of James Brown) opens wide, he dies...maybe the film did it (and anyone who's seen the film knows what I'm talkin' about)

Bah Humbug! Happy Over-Commercialized Reason for Christians to Beat Their Faiths Into Other People's Heads! Sarcasm aside, I realize that this time of year, for those who are not religious, is still a time to celebrate family and friends and be thankful for all the joy and love brought into their l...
