If you look at pictures of him at premieres and other events, he looked nice and healthy at the Rescue Dawn premiere last summer, but seemed to look progressively worse as the year wore on. It's fairly noticeable to me, even just looking at IMDb galleries.

How awful.

ETA: CNN and MSNBC are both reporting it on their websites.

Dennis Bee has said that his nomination-day predictions have often been better than his final predictions. This is true for me too--last year, I saw the Alan Arkin upset coming on nomination morning, and then backed off in my final predictions--but I'm not sure if it'll be the case this year. It se...

I know you didn't say he was Oscar-worthy, but a lot of voters apparently felt he was. I thought he was entertaining in Charlie Wilson's War, but the idea of it as an Oscar-nominated performance doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I never saw the other two movies, but if a stand-up act like his performance in Charlie Wilson's War is Oscar-worthy, then I think the definition of the term Oscar-worthy is in need of re-examination.

Maybe Fred Thompson can get back into that contract with ABC radio to host the morning and noon news show when Paul Harvey kicks it. He made a pretty good radio host.

Voted for Hirsch; I think that he and McAvoy (Brolin, too) both would've been infinitely more deserving than Depp or Mortensen.

Into the Wild didn't even get in for Song. They just handed most of the category over to Enchanted, just like they used to in the Disney-animation heyday.

In the makeup category, we ahve Oscar-nominee Norbit.

Add Angelina Jolie to that list of surprising snubs. Still kind of surprised that Jolie had less support for a nomination than Blanchett in that category.

I think it's been pointed out elsewhere, but this ruling against There Will Be Blood is especially ridiculous when you consider that last year's winner in this category, Babel , drew heavily from previously-recorded material, and the most famous (and only decent, in my opinion) piece of music in th...

They certainly seem to be trying to bring on the pretty. But most of the pretty boys are actually good actors, too, so that's good.
