It's great to see folks like Leeder (I still have a print-out of your most-recommended vampire films somewhere in my files, annotated with others' chime-ins of course) delurk for this nostalgic thread. I'd be fascinated to know what's on that list. Doubt it would be too much different today, though...

Not sure when I first started posting, but it was certainly around the 1998 Oscar season... does anyone else remember somebody (Magilla, I think) posting "Globes Night -- The Night I Crossed the Thin Red Line." And I remember posts by Real Oscar Guy. Now there was a fiasco to end them all...

To my mind, Death Proof succeeds exactly where Kill Bill failed: in justifying woman's revenge without undoing everything by fetishizing her suffering excessively to begin with. Kill Bill reeks of a male director keen on enacting his fantasies of woman as buttkicking love goddess on one hand but al...

Hello, Leeder. I recollect very well that you and Erin hooked up, and I think you revealed it after the fact. Was this when you announced you were going on haitus to write a novel? Now I'm dying to know what she looked like. She broke your heart, so you don't have to be such a gentleman. Care to di...

Big Magilla wrote:I not only remember Erin - I thought ther was something going on between her and Murray.
Simply out of curiousity, do you remember what made you think so? I don't think we ever "went public" on the board... we were too unsure of what our status was in offline life for that.

And Magilla, unless I'm entirely mistaken, you were one of the few people to read my first novel, The Nectar Deceptions. Seriously, only about eleven people in the world can make that claim.

Something in the neighbourhood of 30 000 read my last book, so I guess I shouldn't complain.

Hey Damien! Right, you were good enough to comment on that story of mine. You know, that one never got published; it got rejected a few times and I lost interest in it. Some of its basic ideas I recycled into something I currently have with an anthology editor. Thanks for that copy of The Seventh V...

This may be as good a place as any to break a lengthy silence. Hello everybody! Yes, I lurk, I lurk. Very interested to hear what you all say. I chuckle as I watch all those criddic discussions going on -- I swear he is a creation of the collective unconscious and if you just stop believe in him he...
