Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing

Wasn’t the start of the investigation really in summer of 2016? He could be factoring that into the “three” figure.

Re: 2018 Tony Awards

Mart Crowley’s groundbreaking play The Boys in the Band opened right after the Tony Award nominations for this year, but I’m going to put my review of it in this thread because I think Jim Parsons’ performance could figure into next year’s nominations. (Apparently, Parsons was injured during yesterd...

Yeah, what exactly are you referencing here, Sabin? It’s impossible to know, as Bog states.

Re: 2018 Tony Awards

The revival this Broadway season of Edward Albee's Three Tall Women is an extraordinary achievement. The obvious draw here is being able to see the legendary two-time Academy Award winner Glenda Jackson in her dominant Tony-nominated role as "A." Jackson must be viewed as the presumptive w...

Re: The Official Review Thread of 2018

Michelle Williams give an absolutely hysterical performance in the latest Amy Schumer movie I Feel Pretty. I literally burst out laughing when she had her first line and pretty much was any time she was back on the screen. The movie has some problems bit she steals the entire thing.

Andrew Sean Greer - Less Runners-Up: Elif Batuman - The Idiot Hernan Diaz - In the Distance By coincidence, I am just in the middle of Batuman's excellent novel (it is on the shortlist of the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award), and I've just started on Greer's winning novel. So far, so good! And by anoth...

Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing

Prediction: when we look back on this day in history, learning that Michael Cohen was indeed in Prague in late summer 2016 will turn out to be way more significant than the strike on Syria -- despite the latter being the shiny object that's knocked everything else off cable news stations for the pa...

Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing

This has been the best birthday present ever! (I’m fucking 40 today - gah!!) Trump is apparently in complete meltdown mode right now inside the White House. I really couldn’t tell you what will happen by week’s end but, like Tee, I think this has clearly revealed that Mueller is heading into a new (...

A Star is Born reviews

The newest remake of A Star is Born starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper (and also directed by the latter) has been pushed to October 2018 from an original May release date in order to make a run for awards consideration. Sean Penn and Barbra Streisand have both openly gushed about the film. Could ...

I’m very interested to see what they do with the Laurie Holden character this season. She seems quite the wildcard.

Have you seen A Quiet Passion? Cynthia Nixon gives an incredible performance, one of the best lead female performances of the year.

Re: The Americans: Final Season

Yes!! I cannot wait. It’s amazing how almost newly relevant the show now is with all this Russia stuff going on. I am steeling myself for an incredible final season. I heard that this season begins with a three-year time jump to 1987.

Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys are on Colbert tonight, by the way.

Re: Oscar Predictions Contest

I came up with my predictions about twenty minutes before the show started. I’m surprised that I tied for second place having made incorrect predictions for a lot of the big awards (Picture, Actor, Original Screenplay, Original Song).

That Icarus guess helped!
