Re: Final Oscar Predictions

It seems like everyone has the exact same acting nominees. Not that I've posted predictions of my own, but you know that's not how the Academy works. There will be at least one shocker nomination. I'd die for something out-of-the-blue (like what if they somehow resurrected Linda Emond or Tracy Letts...

Re: Decision 2016

flipp525 wrote Just resurrecting this post as now, it appears, I might've been right. (Although I never imagined golden showers.) But what comes of it? Nothing. Just a somehow crazier President Trump. Well, I mean, nothing. Nothing ever comes of anything he says or does. But I had to bring it out b...

Re: Decision 2016

I also think there could be some serious blackmail material Putin has on Trump including, but not limited to, tapes that portray underage and perhaps non-consensual (rape), sex between Trump and a minor. Just resurrecting this post as now, it appears, I might've been right. (Although I never imagin...

Re: The Official Review Thread of 2016

Quick Elle question:

What was the second text message that Michele got? She is at work and it's nighttime. Someone is taking photographs in another room of the office.

Re: Decision 2016

This is just mind-boggling. I truly believe that Donald Trump has been compromised by a hostile foreign country and now our national security is under threat ( under threat? It's already been breached). Russia hacked into the RNC too, so any Republican in Congress must also, at the very least, be co...

Another shameless self promotion moment ahead... I'll be doing another reading at the Bureau of General Sciences - Queer Division (housed at the LGBT Center in NYC located at 208 West 13th Street - Room 210). I'll be reading with Scott Hess ( Skyscraper ), Amy Duplak ( Dust ), and Robert Hyers ( Spi...

flipp525 wrote Sabin, that was, like, my first post on the subject of Best Actress this season! But that's how thoughtful you are! Even when it's your first post, it's just too much. I was paying you a compliment, dawg. Ha, I know! Just kidding with you. Great breakdown of the latest developments i...

Re: SAG Nominations

Will Brie Larson's win from last year hurt Huppert's chances? I'm thinking that the Academy will have a difficult time justifying two rape-centric Best Actress performances two years in a row. BJ, conversely, I can see a winner narrative starting to coalesce around Huppert based on a number of facto...

Re: SAG Nomination Predictions

Why wouldn't Isabelle Huppert place here? Does the SAG nominating committee just really love Meryl? I suppose since she could get nominated for The River Wild, anything is possible. (That was a super weak year though).

Edited to add: I just saw that Reza covered this down-thread.

Re: Golden Globe Nominations

Lily Collins is nominated? Okay, that's pretty much the absolute zenith of nepotism. She is godawful in Rules Don't Apply (neither does talent apply apparently). There's a scene where she's dumping her boyfriend and rattles off five different thoughts seemingly at once. They all sound completely the...

Re: Golden Globe Nominations

I pointed at Simon Helberg as a strong possibility for year-end awards consideration the day after I saw FFJ. Just for the record.

Re: Boston Film Critics Winners

Is Huppert becoming a kind of frontrunner in Best Actress? She also just scored a Golden Globe nomination.
