Re: Golden Globe reactions

Okay, this Raimi situation is an odd one. Everyone from AW, to AwardsDaily, to Goldderby, to Twitter seems to be automatically citing him as a lock. And... I don't buy it. At least not at the moment. Look, he's obviously the frontrunner. But Bohemian Rhapsody winning Drama, might just fuck this up f...

Re: Golden Globe reactions

Sorry for not being here to predict with ya'll. Been too caught up in my personal life, taking care of myself, etc. - for more than a month now.

And my freaking sides. What a terrible show this was. Holy hot garbage.

Re: Screen Actors Guild Awards

Seems as if 'A Star is Born' really is winning best picture after all. There's been a distinct underdog feeling to many recent winners, or at least a lack of long-held frontrunner status. It used to be that the frontrunner won handily and regularly, but obviously times have changed. Which is why I w...

Re: The Host of the 91st Academy Awards Is....

I'm going to play an 'accused devil's' advocate and just blatantly state that making fun of a hertrosexual father’s concerns of his son possibly being gay does not reinforce anything homophobic. Calling that stand-up routine homophobic, is like calling Borat racist. It makes fun of stereotypes and p...

Re: Oscar Predictions Thread - Keeping Up with Precursor Season

POST-SAG WINS/PRE-BAFTA NOMS This race is getting tighter and tighter. The noms are very close to forming. It feels like all major categories so far are incredibly weak and extremely divisive in precursors while having zero frontrunners. Best Picture 1. Lady Bird 2. Three Billboards Outside E...

God. I hope BAFTA is going to make these categories a LOT easier.

Re: SAG Nominations and Predictions

With the lone Globe Nom for Oldman as his films generates zero passion, and CMBYN seemingly flopping in the major precursors; this Best Actor race is getting too weak--like, unfathomably weak. :? I honestly won't be too surprised if the Oscar just weightlessly sledded to Chalamet. Someone pointed ou...

Re: SAG Nominations and Predictions

I wonder what the implications are for Armie Hammer & Michael Stuhlbarg being overlooked in Supporting Actor for CMBYN? Both? A big maybe. Either/Or? Very Likely. Armie has the bigger role, and he's been campaigning like a mad dog. Stuhlbarg hasn't gotten any critics' awards nor any precursors....

Re: SAG Nominations and Predictions

Tumblr Stans on AW are dismissing Three Billboards chances in favor of 'Ladybird.' Which makes perfect sense. The bias is too real.

It comes down between those 2 films.

Re: SAG Nominations and Predictions

Are they (meaning all precursors) deliberately trying to mess with our heads? Definitely . This is by far, the most bizarre awards race we've had in a while. No Frontrunner for Best Picture, Critics' Awards are extremely divisive with multiple ties, Acting Predictions keep getting jumbled, Ri...

Yes, however, It was extremely late. Same thing happened with 'Phantom Thread.'

A good portion of people knew neither of them would do overly spectacular. But no-one expected a complete snub across the board.

Re: SAG Nominations and Predictions

So happy that I called that Streep Snub. :) (Albeit at the last minute.) This BP race seems to be boiling down between Lady Bird and 3BB, with CMBYN as the darkhorse. I'm not confident in any clear cut winner right now. I suppose I'll start predicting once the Globes come around. There's honestly 2 ...
