Re: 2024 Governors Awards
What about Tom Cruise? I’m startled that he’s not in the conversation every year. Every bit as deserving as Harrison Ford for an honorary. Neither one is winning a competitive Oscar. I’d also add Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Pfeiffer at this point.

Re: I'm always here for the Trivia
Killers of the Flower Moon is the third film by Scorsese that goes 0/10 at the Oscars, after Gangs of New York and The Irishman . A shame. It’s also his fourth film in a row that is nominated for at least an Academy Award and doesn’t win anything after The Wolf of Wall Street , Silence and The Iris...

Re: We Wish You a Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas from Spain to you all. I've just watched Peter Godfrey's Christmas in Connecticut, with Barbara Stanwyck. It's a nice movie. We need more Una O'Connor and S. Z. Sakall type of supporting character actors these days.

Re: Meryl Streep wins Princess of Asturias Award for Arts
Thank you, Big Magilla, it was great. She will give a public speech tomorrow, I hope you’ll be able to know from the States what she has to say. I’ll try to share some pieces of news in English as of tomorrow if I manage to find them.

Re: Meryl Streep wins Princess of Asturias Award for Arts
Today I attended a public encounter with Meryl Streep, hosted by Antonio Banderas, in my hometown, Oviedo, in the North of Spain, where on Friday the King of Spain and his daughter, the Princess of Asturias, will bestow on Meryl the award for Arts given by the Princess’ Foundation. After the Nobel p...

Re: Best Supporting Actress 2022
Kerry Condon was great, and she would have won without Jamie Lee Curtis, whose Oscar win I don’t think will stand the test of time, but I don’t dislike her performance either, and I can think of worse winners in this category (Gale Sondergaard, Alice Brady, Gloria Grahame, Miyoshi Umeki, Helen Hayes...

Re: Best Supporting Actor 20222
A nice addition to these polls, thank you. I also think Barry Keoghan should have won this Oscar, but I voted Brendan Gleeson for the future memory, because I think revisionism of his character -which is more complex, and also supporting in my view- will bring more in-depth discussion about the movi...

Re: Oscar Trivia Quiz: Best Picture/Relatives Edition
Thank you. Please, Big Magilla, Mister Tee or whoever elaborate more quizzes of this sort focused in other categories if you fancy it and have the time. We should be doing the polls of this year’s Oscars as well.

Re: Oscar Trivia Quiz: Best Picture/Relatives Edition
And finally number 8, the fourth couple who met while shooting a Best Picture winner, John Ireland and Joanne Dru in All the King’s Men, although I read they met the year before on Red River.
This was a very funny game.

Re: Oscar Trivia Quiz: Best Picture/Relatives Edition
The answer to 2c must be Mark Wahlberg and Robert Wahlberg, both in The Departed, the latter with a very small appearance as an FBI agent. I can’t remember if he even speaks in the movie, but I remember a shot where he is introduced to Matt Damon.

Re: Oscar Trivia Quiz: Best Picture/Relatives Edition
According to IMDb Trivia, though:
Son Sean Astin is not his biological child. He is ex-wife Patty Duke's son with her ex-husband Michael Tell. Duke claimed Sean's biological father was John Astin until the two blood-tested in 1990 and this became clear that Tell was the father.
