Re: Best Screenplay 1978
I haven't seen Bloodbrothers, so I'll abstain in Adapted, but between the other four Midnight Express is clearly the standout. It's a powerful film, full of unforgettable moments, and a worthy winner in this category. The other Robert Mulligan movie, Same Time, Next Year, is just nice material, far ...

Re: Mad Men's Final Season
I totally agree with all of you. And a Mad Men episode without Christina Hendricks is a waste of a Mad Men episode in my book. She's the show's soul. I really like the series, specially the three first seasons, and I only wish two things for this five last episodes to come. First, I hope Don's chara...

Re: Best Actress 1978
It's impossible not to vote for Ingrid Bergman here, as far as I'm concerned. That she won her third Oscar for making funny faces alongside Albert Finney during 5 minutes and not for Autumn Sonata is outrageous. And yes, Liv Ullmann should have been nominated as well, but Bergman is an artistic plea...

Re: Best Screenplay 1979
I love Manhattan, and I voted for it. It's my favorite Woody Allen movie, alongside the forgotten Another Woman and Crimes & Misdemeanors, and the other contenders here don't hold a candle to it. With that beginning, it's impossible to resist. Add to that every wonderful detail, line, element, c...

Re: Acting Bunch Winners of the 80s
It's of course in terms of best performances, and when it comes to 1981, it's good for sure (if not brilliant), but I also understand it's one of the most distinguished groups ever (no matter On golden pond or Arthur), if not the most, as Magilla pointed out. Nevertheless, I like better some other y...

Acting Bunch Winners of the 80s
80s may have been lackluster, but this is a tough one. What do yo think?

Oh, yes.Big Magilla wrote:Changed my vote to Benedict Cumberbatch after seeing The Imitation Game a second time. Keaton may be better overall, but I don't think his performance is so great that he should run away with the voting. Cumberbatch should have more than one vote, so there.

Re: WGA's 100 Funniest Screenplays
I remind you three titles you should take in consideration for your choices (I definitely would in your position):
Singin' in the rain
What's up, Doc?
Bullets over Broadway

Re: Best Screenplay 1980
I think it's quite easy to choose here, in both categories, at least for me. In Original, I'd like to begin saying I didn't see Private Benjamin, and I ASSUME I don't need to see it in order to vote. Actually I don't care because I've already made a decision. Then there's that movie called Fame, a b...

Re: Acting Bunch Winners of the 60s
I'm realizing how difficult is to find a group that isn't disappointing for some reason or another. We should probably call Butterfield 8 to find out what is Elizabeth Taylor doing on that group if it doesn't have anything to do with a tracheotomy. Shirley Jones? Fine, but both of them utterly undis...

Acting Bunch Winners of the 60s
60s to continue. I think this is a bit easier than 70s, do you think so? Vote and post your opinions. It's a joy creating these polls in a board like this one.

Re: Barcelona to Dusseldorf Flight Tragedy
I hope this terrible news won't become a potencial movie in a decade or so.
I assume psychological tests will be more meticulous and harder for new pilots from now on.

Re: Acting Bunch Winners of the 70s
This is not easy, because almost each of these years there is a misplaced or a lesser performance when considering the others. I think this is between 1971 and 1972, but I ended up voting for the latter, because they are four unforgettable performances who haven't dated at all. Iconic, yes, but outs...

Acting Bunch Winners of the 70s
Alongside screenplay polls, I'd like to introduce each week a new and more lightweight ballot in order to find out which group of acting winners is the best (and the worst) since the beginning of the Academy Awards. It's an outcome I've always wanted to know, and after your great each acting categor...
