Re: Rare Films - Can anyone help me?

By coincidence, I have been looking for some of these very same films on Youtube recently...

Thunderbolt, The Big Pond, Escape Me Never and Private Worlds are also available on Youtube, or at least were there recently.

Mister 880 is on DailyMotion.

Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing

The only thing that needs to be repealed and replaced is the Electoral College, which should have been repealed and replaced by the popular vote decades ago. That I can tell you! More like centuries ago. I can understand why the Electoral College was introduced at the time, but I don't understand w...

Re: Cannes 2017

No Man's Land won the foreign language award and had quite a lot of English in it, any idea what would have been the percentage in that one?

Re: 2017 Oscar Invitees

Well, I'm delighted to see that they're reaching out more to filmmakers who have worked in foreign languages. For that, I will happily give a pass to the invitees with less than impressive CVs.

Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing

His favorability rating is 10 points lower now than it was on Election Day. Where do you get that information? According Huff's tracker, Trump's favorability rating was in mid-30s for a long time prior to the election. Then, after he got elected, it spiked, presumably because there were people will...

Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing

Trump did terribly in polls measuring favorability even before he was elected, so I wouldn't read too much into his currently poor approval rating. A lot of those who "disapprove" of him are Republicans who voted for him anyways out of party loyalty. A smaller, but still significant, amoun...

Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing

If it's a bill, then the Governor can veto it. I checked this and it appears you're right. However, I presume that in those states where the constitution permits legislation through referendums, it should theoretically be possible to call for a constitutional convention that way also (although I do...

Are you sure? Article V only speaks about State Legislatures, the Governors should not matter.

Re: R.I.P. Jonathan Demme

I wasn't expecting him to die yet. He was a good director, who directed a bunch of entertaining films and he was especially an excellent acting director. Still, there is one film that he directed which is towering over the rest - The Silence of the Lambs , a seminal crime/suspense film of its era. T...

R.I.P. Erin Moran

Erin Moran, of Happy Days fame, has died at the age of 56. Very sad, but not surprising, as she was the prime example of a celebrity who had fallen on hard times after the peak of career ended.

Re: New Oscar Rules

The "O.J. Rule" is reasonable, but unfortunately it's the only change that I like. The Animation change is regrettable, and I'm saying that as someone who was disappointed to see The Lego Movie miss out. Presumably the Hollywood studios were not too happy to see their big budget efforts lo...
