Re: Golden Globe Predictions Contest!

The correct answer to the tie-breaker question is 8. Only Heksagon got it right so he earns a bonus triple points for that. Oh, nice. I said to myself, surely no one will overestimate how many times the subject will be brought up. So I checked what was the highest number anyone has suggested and ad...

Re: 2016 Nobel Prizes

I'm noticing this a year late, but it's curious to note that the Physics Prize winner John Michael Kosterlitz is actually the nephew of Oscar-nominated film director Henry Koster.

I did say that, but to be fair, I didn't actually follow that restriction myself either. Sienkiewicz did not live to see Quo Vadis get nominated.

Re: 2017 Nobel Prizes

Incidentally, Kazuo Ishiguro is the fir...

Re: Rare Films - Can anyone help me?

By coincidence, I have been looking for some of these very same films on Youtube recently...

Thunderbolt, The Big Pond, Escape Me Never and Private Worlds are also available on Youtube, or at least were there recently.

Mister 880 is on DailyMotion.

The only thing that needs to be repealed and replaced is the Electoral College, which should have been repealed and replaced by the popular vote decades ago. That I can tell you! More like centuries ago. I can understand why the Electoral College was introduced at the time, but I don't understand w...

Re: Cannes 2017

No Man's Land won the foreign language award and had quite a lot of English in it, any idea what would have been the percentage in that one?

Well, I'm delighted to see that they're reaching out more to filmmakers who have worked in foreign languages. For that, I will happily give a pass to the invitees with less than impressive CVs.

His favorability rating is 10 points lower now than it was on Election Day. Where do you get that information? According Huff's tracker, Trump's favorability rating was in mid-30s for a long time prior to the election. Then, after he got elected, it spiked, presumably because there were people will...
