Re: Best Actress 1991
I am a Bette Midler fan. I wanted her to win so badly in 79 for The Rose but then I got to watching Norma Rae and was blown away by Sally Field. Field was right to be chosen. For me this year it was between Laura Dern and Bette Midler but Midler had such an essence to her. So my vote is for her

Re: The Biggest Oscar Disappointments ( Actress 70-89)
This is a great list. I agree with all except probably Ellen Burstyn in The Exorcist. I was definitely for Joanne Woodward that year. Re: Biggest Oscar Disappointments ( Actress 90-99)
This was a tough one for me as it came between Bette Midler and Fernanda Montenegro. Both were excellent. But in the long run my vote goes for Bette as well. Great choices on here though. I think I would have added Helena Bonham Carter in The Wings Over the Dove instead of Helen Hunt.

Re: The Biggest Oscar Disappointments (Supporting Actress 70
I agree with Karen Black. Others listed here may have been better than teh winners, but so were some of teh otehr nominees. Two performances I coudn't stand were Quinn Cummings, overly precocious in The Goodbye Girl and Anne RSamsey in Throw Momma from teh Train - that voice! Of course I felt bad w...

Re: Biggest Oscar Disappointments ( Supporting Actress 90-99
The biggest disappointment for me in the 90's was Jennifer Tilly in Bullets Over Broadway. This is obviously some kid who is still tickled by a sense of irony and/or camp. Actually I agree with Jennifer Tilly too. She was excellent in Bullets. Her and Dianne Wiest had the strongest performances in ...
