Re: The Grand Budapest Hotel

Really looking forward to seeing this. Do you think Fiennes could be a contender, hes getting pretty much raves across the board for his comedic performance.

He should be a lock for Golden Globe Musical Comedy Best Actor.

Re: Best Picture and Director 2007

For me its between the two masterpieces of the decade, NCFOM and TWBB, overall I go with No Country I think its more tighter and has more depth than Anderson's film.

Re: The Wolf of Wall Street reviews

Really, really, REALLY disliked this one. It was just unpleasant and borderline vulgar, filled with some of the most hateful, unpleasant characters I've ever seen in a movie. I'm not saying that every movie has to have a character who we can "relate to", but every single character is abso...

Re: Best Picture and Director 1996

I think Fargo is one of the best films of the decade. It gets my vote for Picture and Director.

Re: Best Picture and Director 1994

I assume Tarantino and Pulp Fiction will walk away with this, but my vote goes to the highly underrated Quiz Show, I think its Redford's most accomplished film and direction.

Re: Best Picture and Director 1992

I think Unforgiven and Eastwood largely deserved their Oscars. Its a close call between him and Altman for direction though. I never understood the wild praise for The Crying Game or Neil Jordan's direction.

Picked Stone and JFK. Great year though and I have no problem with The Silence of the Lambs winning all the awards.

Re: Best Picture and Director 1990

I don't think any director that year came close to the sheer innovation and vision that Scorsese brought to Goodfellas. You can see its influence on the 90s, particularly Pulp Fiction and Boogie Nights. I did love The Grifters though. Dances with Wolves is the kind of film that looks impressive on t...

Re: Best Actor 2012

Phoenix.

Im generally not a fan of his but I was blown away by his performance. It is really close between him and DDL though.

Re: Categories One-by-One: Supporting Actor

I don't think Tommy Lee Jones deserves to win this at all, he could do this role in his sleep and I found Spader to be the most impressive. The most impressive turns were easily by Waltz and Hoffman. I still expect Jones to win yet another undeserved Oscar, but im hoping for a Waltz upset.

Re: Lincoln reviews

I don't think Jones gave the best performance out of his nominated group, I think Waltz and Hoffman were much better, even if they are co-leads. I find it baffling all this praise Jones is getting, im hoping its not another undeserved Oscar for him.

Re: Lincoln reviews

After seeing this im absolutely baffled some people thought Tommy Lee Jones was the scene stealer, no way is he as good (or has as difficult a task) as Day-Lewis. DDL was phenomenal though and would be a deserving winner (though I think Phoenix gave the performance of his career and is a little more...
