Re: Best Supporting Actor 1981

I think Nicholson gave his best supporting performance in this film, far better than his others like A Few Good Men and Terms of Endearment, he gets my vote here.

Re: Best Supporting Actor 1979

Melvyn Douglas in Being There gets my vote. He creates a real heartfelt portrail, and he has terrific chemistry with Sellers. Im actually suprised he is winning here because most people seem to cry Duvall was robbed, which I never believed as great as Duvall was

Re: Best Supporting Actor 1978

Walken. I did really like Farnsworth though, but Walken never gave as great of a performance as he did here, one of the best supporting turns to win the award

Re: Best Supporting Actor 1974

I feel a little bad that Jeff Bridges will never win one of these polls lol. He's one of the most consistent american actors, even more so than De Niro, but I just cant vote for him over De Niro's masterpiece of a performance here. My personal line up: 1) Robert De Niro- The Godfather Part 2 2) John...

Re: Best Supporting Actor 1972

Outstanding year for this category, though I think Duvall gave the weakest supporting performance, I thought Caan's simmering intensity yet loyal compassion to his brother was the more impressive acting feat. Pacino would get my win in lead, however I think they were right to award Joel Grey here.

Re: Best Supporting Actor 1971

I never really got the overwhelming praise for Ben Johnson if im being honest, I didnt think it was a particularly difficult role or that he did anything to elevate it. He's perfectly fine in it, but its a role that I could see many actors of similar stature pull of to the same standard. My personal...

Re: Best Supporting Actor 1970

Its between Dan George and Hackman for me, both were tremendous, but Hackman is clearly the lead, and I think Dan George did more with less screentime.

Re: Best Supporting Actor 1967

Both Hackman and Kennedy are tremendous but Hackman gets my vote here. Funnily enough George Kennedy did a interview recently where he said he thought Hackman gave the best performance of the nominees and even thought Hackman would win in 67. I also got ther impression from him that he wasnt a fan o...

Jack Lemmon- Save the Tiger?

What are your thoughts on his Oscar winning performance? Ive seen a lot of people not like his performance, while I think his film is bad, I think he truely elevates it with his performance. He pours geniune sadness into that character, like he feels that the walls are closing in but he never gives ...

Re: Best Supporting Actor 1961

Not a fan of the winner, but this is a really outstanding line up, both the Hustler men and Clift are all time worthy, its between Scott and Clift, but I side with Clift here within a matter of minutes creates such a tragic and haunting portrayal.

Unforgiven (1992)- Clint Eastwood

Such an amazing film, the opening shot is just perfect, a man reflecting on his time coming to an end, almost representing the end of the western era, where men who were outlaws want to settle down and put their dark pasts behind them, and the two men that are representative of this change are Willi...
