Re: O.J. Simpson Dead at 76

While there was not much to respect about the whole fiasco, I do remember having respect for prosecutor Marcia Clark and Judge Ito, mostly for appearing to do the best they could in a very bad situation. I remember there was this joke when they were doing jury selection for the trial: "Knock kn...

Re: Cannes 2024

While it is a stretch to compare Megalopolis to Titanic , it may be more apt to compare it to Apocalypse Now . That is another Coppola film from a while back that had also been described as "baffling" and "batshit crazy," or words to that effect. If Megalopolis does Apocalypse No...

Re: Cannes 2024

My understanding from the reports I’ve read is that Coppola is looking for a wider distribution deal before considering Cannes, with the concern that mixed reviews might kill a possible deal. He wants it shown on IMAX screens. The film has its admirers but general word is that the film is too “out ...

Megalopolis reviews

If Gore had any idea that Florida would have been as close as it was, he probably would have chosen Bob Graham.

Speaking of Dolly Parton, does anyone agree with me that she can be quite funny and it is too bad that she hasn't done more comedy?

Re: New Developments III

The big question I have is, if the New York AG starts to seize Trump properties, how leveraged is Trump? It could be that the New York Ag seizes a property, sells it to the highest bidder, and, finds that Trump is underwater, that he owes more money on the property than its sale price. That means th...

Trump is unable to make the almost half-billion-dollar bond necessary to appeal his New York civil fraud verdict. It appears the New York AG will start seizing Trump's property in about a week.

Re: Welcome to the 97th Academy Awards

Megalopolis finished production at the end of March in 2023; so, it should already have finished post-production. Apparently, it will be shown at this year's Cannes festival, which will be from May 14 to 25.

Re: In Memoriam

The reason I was hoping the last person In Memoriam would be Norman Jewison is that it could end with the scene in Moonstruck in the kitchen where Olympia Dukakis says, "Te amo;" and, Vincent Gardenia responds with, "Anch'io ti amo."
