Re: New Developments III

Trump is unable to make the almost half-billion-dollar bond necessary to appeal his New York civil fraud verdict. It appears the New York AG will start seizing Trump's property in about a week.

Re: Welcome to the 97th Academy Awards

Megalopolis finished production at the end of March in 2023; so, it should already have finished post-production. Apparently, it will be shown at this year's Cannes festival, which will be from May 14 to 25.

Re: In Memoriam

The reason I was hoping the last person In Memoriam would be Norman Jewison is that it could end with the scene in Moonstruck in the kitchen where Olympia Dukakis says, "Te amo;" and, Vincent Gardenia responds with, "Anch'io ti amo."

Re: Oscar Predictions Contest

Returning to my tradition, here is the most recent year, based on the years the films were released, where I correctly predicted a category: 2023: Picture Directing Original Screenplay Lead Actor Supporting Actor Supporting Actress International Feature Documentary Feature Animated Feature Live Acti...

Re: Welcome to the 97th Academy Awards

The big question mark, for both box office and awards in 2024, appears to be Megalopolis.

That would be tricky for movies such as Gone With The Wind which have had multiple re-releases over the years.

Re: I'm always here for the Trivia

- “Oppenheimer”, with global box office tallying just shy of $1 billion, is now the third-highest-grossing film to win the top Oscar, behind only of “Titanic” and “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King". It is also the highest-grossing film to earn acting awards. If you adjust for infl...

Re: Categories One-by-One: Visual Effects

I am so clueless about Visual Effects that in the Prediction Contest I predicted Mission: Impossible as it was clear nobody else would be predicting it; and, if it did win, I would get triple points.

Re: Categories One-by-One: Best Actress

I would prefer if they go the old-fashioned route where they award it to the one here who has paid her dues - a career award - Bening. On this, I agree with what I saw on a YouTube video of Glenda Jackson presenting the Best Actor award the year Art Carney won, the award is for the best performance...

That was the same logic I used last year when I predicted Original Screenplay would go to The Banshees Of Inisherin over Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Actually, there are great similarities between Oppenheimer and Lawrence Of Arabia. They are both 3-hour-or-plus historical epics with titular characters who are tragic heroes.
