Re: Stay Safe Everyone!

I live in Florida, but, about 200-300 miles north of The Keys/Miami area which really got hit; so, apart from losing electricity for 5 days, my area was spared. I am glad I at least got this, as the whole time of August/early September was quite Hellish for me. First, my Father passed away at 80 yea...

In a new low for WTF moments, three Republican U.S. Senators just said they will vote for the Senate-health-care bill only if the House promises not to vote for the bill as it is:

Re: Dunkirk reviews

I could see it winning Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Mixing (which will be the worst win of the night), and Best Sound Effects, which will continue the tradition of the movie winning the most Oscars not winning Best Picture. Which would make ...

Re: Oscar Predictions & Race Discussion Thread - July to Toronto

Sabin's comment 'What we know is that it's going to be a hot button film for its depiction of an underage relationship' is potentially an issue. I say potentially because the only film critic that I am aware of has had an issue with this has been Laura Kern in Film Comment who dismissed the film in...

Re: Everything Is Great and Amazing

I've never seen The Apprentice . Has anyone here seen it, and, if so, was Trump that much of a jerk on the show? I would assume if all his negatives were on full display not only while he was running for President but while he is serving as President, that they would not be covered up for a reality ...

For the most part, I can just say "See BJ". Though I will add a few alternates (beyond Little Big Man): The Wild Child, Woodstock, and my will-always-love-it-no-matter-what-anybody-says, Catch 22. Woodstock is also an alt for me. Apparently, the cinematographers for this, Malcolm Hart and...

Haskell Wexler had won an Oscar for Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf , then was ignored for In the Heat of the Night and again for Medium Cool , his first feature film as a director. His deft mix of actual footage of the street riots surrounding the 1968 Democratic national convention and fictional s...

The Original BJ wrote:. . . I was surprised how inside baseball it was too -- jokes about Andy Karl's injury. . .

Was that the part in the opening where Spacey moved his cast from his arm to his leg? I wondered what that was all about.
