(Mister Tee @ Oct. 27 2010,9:33) The only difference this time around is the way in which Zwick fails. Normally he deals in Weighty Progressive Subjects, which all the Oscar hypers proclaim Academy catnip, but the end result film is always so bland even the old-time voters don't bite. This time he ...

(quick diversion) So, my godfather's college roommate was Charles Leavitt. He's a totally nice guy who I've met up with in Los Angeles a couple of times. Very supportive and informative. His credits read as such: The Express (2008) Blood Diamond (2006) K-PAX (2001) The Jennie Project (TV) (2001) Th...

Should I wait a day or vote for Elaine May for A New Leaf now?

(Biggest let-down for me? Glorious year as it was, we could not find room for Two English Girls.)

It's Kind of a Funny Story (Boden/Fleck) That quiet, antisocial white kid in high school who clearly thinks he is a sensitive artist? This movie is like reading his blog. It's not funny, the humor is off-synch throughout, and it's embarrassingly emo. I have never seen a movie in my life act so self...

Jane Horracks should have won for Life is Sweet. Mike Leigh was half a decade away from becoming one of the more oddly-embraced auteurs in Oscar history, but he now has six Oscar nominations to his name for writing and directing! Horracks had wins from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and t...

Jackass 3D opened with $50 mil! Those are 3D prices but still. That's huge. America spoke'th. Red opened with $22.5 mil. Not awesome for a $58 mil price tag (not to mention around $30 in marketing) but that's still better than I thought. It'll probably drop off pretty quick but break even in the lo...

/Rosemary's Baby/ (Polanski) - 9/10 Saw it projected at the New Beverly. I found myself very interested in how Polanski shoots very small scenes packed with information, how he uses onners to cover basically everything, and how this essentially creates a feeling of throttling through a book...and a...

I think Jackass 3D is going to be huge. There's kind of a thirst for something mindlessly entertaining and Jackass 3D will fit that bill. More so than Red, I think. Jackass 3D will open $30+ mil while Red will teeter below $20 mil, which will add fuel to the fire that graphic novel adaptations are ...

Nope. Don't know a single person who has seen it or heard of it. And the prospect of watching Steel Magnolias sounds like a threat, so I'll abstain.

Between Fricker or Wiest, I would go with Fricker. She has no great scene but her work is cumulatively grand.
