Hello, you all! Many thanks for the birthday wishes! We had a great time at my daughter's farm, and we celebrated the REAL Thanksgiving at the same time. Danae always makes me brandied pumpkin cheesesake. As you know, I am not very active on the computer, but I am in little pain, which I am allievi...

The article below mentioned that Swayze did not use any "pain-killing medicine". True. He smoked medical marijuana, as I do to feel a sense-of-well-being for a while and relieve the nausea and pain, for this terrible cancer. Pancreatic cancer : 2% of all cancers 4th of all cancer deaths. ...

Hi, all. Haven't been around much but I have to put in another word for Betty White. She has been highly successful in TV since the early fifties, I believe--it seems she has never left the screen. Mary Tyler Moore, a wonderful show, was even more fun when Sue Ann Nivens came into the newsroom, and...

Right now:--I am VERY glad to be in Canada under a sensible health reform. The number of times I have been in the hospital, needed medications, needed CTs scans or others, doctors' visits, etc. over the past 7 months has not cost ME a penny. This is not to say that our system is perfect. There are ...

Biggest Non-secret ever held! Can we go back to the medical insurance situation in the US? The amount and obviousness of untruths abound--like Canada is a Socialist country( read: bad). Yet there are millions is Americans who believe these nonsenses-- those millions who are a little right of Attila...

Les Paul, and his wife, Mary Ford, had many big hits in the early fifties--my heyday. There were many instrumentals Paul produced( Meet Mr. Callaghan, etc.) but his biggest hits were with his wife, who did multiple tracks of her voice, as he over-dubbed his own tracks with miraculous work on the (r...

We are following the struggle for universal health care in the US, as we live with it. When you need it, it is there and cheap, or free. I would rather be taxed for health care than anything else.

I would really like to know : how many of you support Obama's policy, and how many are opposed?

Because the Julie Powell book was fleshed out with the Child book, I sort of expected more. Streep does another Oscar-worthy performance, and may just get it this time, but Adams is a disaster. The food is absolutely lovely and the wonderful photography of it is reminiscent of "Big Night"...

The latest Sanra Bullock for (I forget who it is) who loves her! We escaped the unusually long heat wave that has overtaken the Northwest, by going to the multiplex to see ANYTHING that started about when we arrived. The choice was between The Proposal and The Hurt Locker, but that latter would see...

Unless I missed it, no one here but me laments the poor judgement not to nominate Friday Night Lights, and Connie Britton is the best actress on TV, by far, IMVHO.

I heard about this new Oscar rule and wondered what all of you would be saying: some like it, and compare it to the year 1939, which had ten bona-fide great movies in its list( 1939, by the way, was a great artistic year--certainly for serious music--many composers wrote their finest work in that y...

I have been doing a lot of reading--some political commentary, so biographies--but mainly during all this I am reading detective novels: Henning Mankells' Kurt Wallander; Peter Robinson's Alan Banks; Robert Crais' Elvis Cole. I have read a number of each author and character. For summer reading, ev...

Hello! I haven't posted for awhile. I took our grandkids to see "Up" yesterday afternoon for coming first in their respective sprints at Sports Day at the school! They are huge Pixar films and Cooper, being a 7-year old boy, likes "Cars" the best. They both loved "Wall-E&qu...
