Re: Decision 2016

flipp525 wrote Just resurrecting this post as now, it appears, I might've been right. (Although I never imagined golden showers.) But what comes of it? Nothing. Just a somehow crazier President Trump. Question for the elders on this board. Has there ever been a worse presidential transition? Well, ...

Re: Decision 2016

criddic3 wrote Let's try to give Mr. Trump a real chance to prove us wrong before throwing nasty hypothetical scenarios at him. I've never thought this about another living person before, but I just hope he dies. He's a terrible human being who is categorically unfit for office. Additionally, he's ...

Re: Decision 2016

Clearly I must have some sort of block, whether it be mental or psychological. I just can't wish violent and physical suffering upon other people, and not with such graphic and emotional intensity. All thoughts and fantasies can spiral out of our control if they're entertained too often or too serio...

Re: Decision 2016

Sabin, I thought my loathing for Trump knew no bounds, but I guess I was wrong because I can't imagine going to such lengths to write what you did. No, not even for Donald Trump. I totally get your despair, but pump the brakes a bit. It's probably not good for YOUR heart. And while I don't believe i...

Re: R.I.P. Debbie Reynolds

This is incredibly shocking, but I was thinking earlier today that when Debbie goes years from now, her death will be one of those show biz footnotes that won't get anywhere near the coverage that Carrie's passing got. Judging by the reaction of my multi-generational Facebook friends, she was far m...

R.I.P. Debbie Reynolds

I tried to find a story with a headline that didn't have that reek of sensationalism in it*, because she was more than Carrie Fisher's mother. But of course this is what everyone is thinking right now, and it makes her death doubly heartbreaking. Her living long enough to see her daughter's passing ...

Happy and Merry to everyone.

If next year we can feel happier and merrier than we are now, it means the bad guys are losing. Let's aim for that.

Re: Foreign Language Film Short-List

I know it's dangerous to make definitive statements (I did say "13th" was going to win Best Documentary) but it sure looks like it's Toni Erdmann from this point on. Which would only be sweet justice, considering how shabbily Cannes treated it.

(Now watch it lose.)

Re: Decision 2016

Like Iran-Contra. Scratch that. More like Bush's drunk driving scandal. It's never proven definitively, it changes no one's mind, and it goes away after January 20th. Not sure I agree with you, because this appears to be coming from CIA sources. They make a much more dangerous enemy than disgruntle...
