Variety has panned Infamous. But you won't find the review on their site, because it was taken down. I don't know if it's because of a technical mishap, or if they accidentally broke a studio embargo and had to remove it. But it's gone. I just glanced at it, and my laptop didn't successfully cache ...

The evening, however, turned out to be the kind of triumph Cannes didn't get when it opened with the lumbering The Da Vinci Code. This is De Palma back to something like his best. It's a superbly shot and at times controversial thriller which may not quite measure up to the film of Ellroy's LA Conf...

I'll avoid speculating whether using the tsunami as an example was accidental or not. And I'll avoid addressing the proposition that one-and-a-half years and five years are at all equivalent to each other. I understand that people have differing thresholds for this sort of thing. Some are even more...

It's appalling, alright. And more appalling is that the producers don't consider South Asians to be Asian enough to participate in this televised race war. Here was the best part of the evening: Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Watch it again. http://movies.crooksandliars.com/The-Emmy-Awards-.mov J...

I don't watch any television series, nominated or unnominated. I didn't see any of the movies or mini-series. But I did watch the Emmys on and off. And maybe part of the reason I enjoyed it is because I had no rooting interest in any of the nominees. But I thought it was a really good show. And I t...

Actually, Clark looked better last night than he did on New Year's Eve. (He may have had some plastic surgery, though.) He's speaking more clearly, too. And I liked Simon Cowell's tribute. It really came across that he reveres Dick Clark. But it would have come across better if we didn't have to se...

Well, I'll somewhat disagree, Oscar Guy - though from a slightly different perspective. It was of course unbelievably bad timing that a terrible crash happened on the very day of the show...but I'd thought right from the get-go that, in this era of United 93/London bomb plot, a plane crash is about...

Mister Tee, Carry On Regardless was one of the two-and-a-half movies I saw. It was what I call a 2am movie, meaning it was the sort of film that could only be seen on The Late, Late Show when there was such a thing. It's not even a narrative film, but a series of vignettes. The Carry On gang try to...

From you, I know why. This movie may be taking the Wes Anderson slots that should've been his several years ago had we lived in a just universe.

I don't watch the Emmys, so my recall may be off. But have they always been in late August, or is this a schedule change? I didn't know there were any award shows during the summer.
