Re: Details of the February 24th Presentation
I've long wondered why they don't sell DVDs of their previous broadcasts, though I suppose the market would be pretty small and they would have to clear all the music and clips rights which would probably prove costly. The shows are almost 100% available on the YouTube Academy page. It’s split betw...

Re: Details of the February 24th Presentation
FYI it’s the first time since 1992 (that’s 27 years) that the ceremony won’t be broadcasted live by any of the four open tv channels in my country. None of the them will even bother to broadcast the shorter version for international viewers that has been broadcasted since 1983 around here.

Re: Details of the February 24th Presentation
One thing I don’t get: will the whole ceremony will be streamed live for all audiences INCLUDING international ones or only these four categories? If it’s only these categories, when does one know that they’re coming up?
This is pretty disgusting...

Re: On to BAFTA
Has anyone watched the presentation? This has to be the show with the most use of the F word in movie clips ever. It even seems that it was done on purpose.. not that I care but is this bleeped in the US?

Re: Details of the February 24th Presentation
Those are all nice ideas for cinephiles like us but if they want to attract audiences I doubt they will achieve that by having 90 year olds performing nominated songs.

Re: Details of the February 24th Presentation
So, latest word seems to be that last year's four acting winners WILL be presenters -- but not of their own (gender-reversed) categories. Supposedly Oldman/Janney will present "something" and McDormand/Rockwell will present another "something” An idea would one pair to present actor/...

Re: Academy Awards Ceremonies - A Trivia Regarding the Number of Nominated Films
Since 1938, excluding shorts, documentaries and foreign, the year with the least nominated films is 1981 (Chariots of Fire) with 21 films and the highest is 1941 (How Green was my Valley) with 66 films.
I haven’t listed the years prior to 1938 yet

Re: The Nominations Announcement
Out of curiosity, do you guys, specially Magilla and Tee, remember when the academy started to announce the nominations live on Tv? Prior to that, were the newspapers the only source of information? Since 1997 I have only missed the live announcement once (2007) because I was in a company meeting in...

Re: Screen Actors Guild Awards
From IndieWire: In a statement, SAG-AFTRA has accused the Academy of exerting “extraordinary and unwarranted pressure” on actors to prevent them from appearing at other award ceremonies, notably the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The group says it has received “multiple reports” of this behavior, whic...
