Re: Broadcast Film Critics Awards

Apparently, the Broadcasters aren't as sold on Close as Magilla and Reza are. Giving, in addition, Colman Comedy Actress means they can claim to have predicted the Oscar winner no matter who wins. It seems to me that half of them are sold on Close and the other half are still going gaga over Gaga. ...

I wouldn't put a movie with televisual qualities (and I don't mean a TV movie) on a top ten TV list. I ...

Re: Interim Thoughts on the Races

A. To answer Tee’s question: how often does picture/directing/screenplay split four ways. Now, using the writing categories as we know them: zero. Going back to the beginning, it’s occurred exactly once. 1940 saw the three writing prizes going to The Great McGinty, Arise My Love and The Philadelphia...

Re: Bohemian Rhapsody

1. I can definitely see it coming down to Cooper vs Malek.

2. Not sure I imagine director being the spot where they recognize Cooper above all, though.

Re: The Best Director Race

a) Sabin, I think you've got the order right for the first four though I wonder if Lee is a bit further back and could be snubbed. b) Vice is in an interesting position. It's metacritic score is at 59, which is surprisingly low. We knew it would be divisive (I have to admit Adam McKay directing a Di...

Re: Short Lists for Multiple Categories

Yeah, what oscarguy said. Of course cisgendered actors should be able to play transgendered characters. But pretending that trans actors have the same opportunities for visibility and roles is ridiculous. Precious, I can buy the idea that this director of Girl did cast a wide enough swath when searc...
